A2 Świecko - Konin | Every kilometer matters
On May 27 at 2.00 p.m. Jordanowo interchange opens. Autostrada Wielkopolska will be connected with S3 express road.
• On May 27 at 2 p.m. Jordanowo interchange connecting the A2 Motorway with the S3 express road constructed by GDDKiA will be put into operation
• The new interchange is the most important link with A2 Motorway for lubuskie voivodeship, and via the motorway – with the network of European roads and motorways
• The Jordanowo interchange and the S3 road will relieve local roads used so far by heavy vehicles travelling to Gorzów Wielkopolski and Zielona Góra
• The Jordanowo interchange had been fully completed already in December 2011 and waited for the completion of the S3 express road
The Jordanowo interchange, which will be made available to drivers on 27 May at 2 p.m., was fully built constructed together with a 106 kilometer long A2 Motorway section to the German border. Since 1 December 2011 until the time GDDKiA finished works on the S3 express road, the interchange in Jordanowo remained closed. Lubuskie voivodeship, thanks to the opening of the Jordanowo interchange, will gain the most important link with the network of European roads and motorways. This will also relieve local roads, until now used by trucks, which were not able to head from A2 to Szczecin, Zielona Góra or Gorzów Wielkopolski before May 27.
According to forecasts, the Jordanowo interchange will capture a significant part of heavy vehicle traffic in lubuskie voivodeship. Thanks to the transfer of transit traffic to the motorway, the level of local roads safety in the voivodeship will increase. Consequently, also average daily traffic volume will change on A2. Currently, on the toll motorway section located in lubuskie region, i.e. between Rzepin and Nowy Tomyśl interchanges, the average vehicle count is 11 thousand per day, including 3.5 thousand trucks. Between Świecko and Rzepin interchanges the daily traffic of heavy vehicles is higher by nearly 4 thousand vehicles. Traffic in all categories of vehicles on that short section from the German border to the Rzepin interchange ranges on the level of 16.5 thousand vehicles per day. A significant part of the vehicles – both trucks and cars – did not continue their travel on the motorway due to the lack of exit towards Zielona Góra, Szczecin or Gorzów Wielkopolski.
The opening of the interchange at Jordanowo to traffic, which plays a strategic role for lubuskie voivodship, will also have its share in making the region more attractive both in terms of investments and tourism.
