Free Tyre Pressure Checks and Expert Advice

On 12 and 13 August 2025, Autostrada Wielkopolska will host the third edition of the “Pressure Matters” campaign. As part of the initiative, drivers travelling on the concession section of the A2 motorway will be able to check their tyre pressure free of charge and receive advice from professional tyre specialists.

Mobile tyre service teams will be available at two Rest and Service Areas (MOPs) – MOP Rogoziniec and MOP Chociszewo.

Free tyre pressure checks during the summer campaign

As part of the holiday season campaign, drivers of passenger cars, vans and heavy goods vehicles will be able to have their tyre pressure checked at no cost. Mobile tyre specialists will be available at designated service areas on the concession section of the A2 motorway:

  • MOP Chociszewo (km 85 of the A2, direction Świecko)
  • MOP Rogoziniec (km 85 of the A2, direction Warsaw)

In addition to tyre pressure measurements, drivers will be able to adjust pressure if necessary and learn why correct tyre pressure is important for driving comfort, efficiency and environmental protection.

For three seasons now, we have been raising drivers’ awareness of how important correct tyre pressure is. We want regular tyre pressure checks to become standard practice, especially before longer journeys. During the holiday season, traffic increases, which is why we are running this campaign for the third time at motorway service areas that drivers frequently use – explains Anna Ciamciak, Spokesperson for Autostrada Wielkopolska.

Dates and locations:

Passenger cars and vans

  • 12 August 2025 – MOP Chociszewo
  • 13 August 2025 – MOP Rogoziniec

Heavy goods vehicles

  • 12 August 2025 – MSA Rogoziniec

Mobile tyre services will be available from 10:00 to 15:00.
Diagnostic stations will be located in designated parking areas for passenger cars or trucks and will be clearly marked.

Tyre Pressure and Driving Comfort

Correct tyre pressure improves vehicle control, makes manoeuvres easier and ensures smoother driving. Properly inflated tyres provide optimal grip, enhance road safety and reduce tread wear.
Tyre pressure should be checked at least once a month and always before a long journey.

Typical pressure ranges:

  • Passenger cars: 2.2–2.5 bar
  • Heavy goods vehicles: 5–9 bar

Recommended tyre pressure values can be found in the vehicle owner’s manual and on the vehicle information label, depending on passenger load and cargo weight.

Every tyre pressure check should also include the spare wheel. Even unused spare tyres can lose pressure over time, so it is worth keeping this under control – advises Michał Średziński from M&M’s Mobile Tyre Service.

Risks of incorrect tyre pressure

Overinflated tyres may result in:

  • reduced grip,
  • longer braking distances,
  • uneven wear of the central tread area,
  • stronger vibrations and increased risk of suspension damage.

Underinflated tyres may cause:

  • higher fuel consumption,
  • excessive wear on the outer tread edges,
  • increased risk of tyre damage,
  • loss of grip on wet surfaces (aquaplaning),
  • delayed vehicle response and more difficult manoeuvring,
  • higher noise levels and longer braking distances.

Correct tyre pressure also supports eco friendly driving. Properly inflated tyres have lower rolling resistance, which reduces fuel consumption and lowers CO₂ emissions.

Tyre Pressure – Quick Guide

  1. Check tyre pressure once a month and always before a long journey.
  2. Measure pressure separately for front and rear tyres (values should be equal on the same axle).
  3. Refer to the vehicle information label for optimal pressure values depending on load and passenger number.
  4. After completing a heavily loaded journey, recheck tyre pressure—it may have increased due to driving conditions.
