Read moreThis section of the A2 motorway is under constant supervision by both patrol units and an advanced surveillance system. Patrols inspect each part of the motorway every two hours during the day and every four hours at night. Their responsibilities include checking emergency lanes, green lanes, protective fencing and barriers, removing minor road hazards, and responding to incidents. When a breakdown, collision, or danger occurs, motorway patrols typically arrive at the scene within 15 minutes to secure the area and assist travelers.
Five patrol vehicles operate continuously, each covering approximately 50 kilometers. Together, they drive about 5,500 kilometers daily, monitoring road conditions, signage, safety barriers, fencing, and infrastructure at Motorway Service Areas (MOPs). Their work is supported by the Motorway Management Center (CZA), which is ready to dispatch services whenever needed and works in close coordination with the police, fire brigades, and emergency medical services.
Drivers can also report incidents directly by calling the motorway emergency number: +48 61 83 83 112. Sharing details such as the type of incident and its location can significantly aid a swift and effective response.
Autostrada Wielkopolska’s A2 concession section represents far more than just a stretch of road – it is a coordinated operation involving hundreds of dedicated professionals. From patrol officers and maintenance workers to landscaping and cleaning teams, this network ensures the daily safety of millions of travelers.
A safe journey doesn’t happen by chance – it’s the outcome of continuous, behind-the-scenes work by people who care deeply about the safety of every driver.
Today, on 25 June, Autostrada Wielkopolska joins many European countries in marking the international #(S)HeWorks #ICare campaign, which celebrates and raises awareness of the work performed by motorway teams. This initiative highlights the critical yet often unseen contributions of motorway patrols, maintenance crews, cleaning services, and construction teams.
In Poland, the campaign serves as a reminder that motorways require constant attention and care to ensure the safety of all users. While technology and infrastructure play key roles, it’s the people – those monitoring, maintaining, and improving the road every day – who are the backbone of motorway safety.
All they ask in return is that drivers stay alert, respect traffic laws and speed limits, and remain especially cautious in areas where roadwork or maintenance is underway. Behind every road sign and safety barrier, someone is working – often just meters away from fast-moving traffic.
Let’s drive responsibly—because safety starts with respect.
