Changes in traffic organization due to the extension of the A2 motorway by a third lane

Starting Sunday 25 May, the organization of traffic will change between the Poznań Krzesiny interchange and Krzyżowniki/Tulce Rest and Service Area (MOP) (171 – 176 km of A2). Road workers are proceeding with the extension of the northbound carriageway of the motorway to include a 3rd lane on the following section. As a result, elements of the temporary traffic organization will begin to be placed from Saturday 24 May. Please drive carefully, pay attention and observe traffic organization signs.

This Saturday 24 May between the 171 and 176 kilometers of the A2 motorway new temporary lanes will be marked out for vehicles traveling on the motorway in both directions, and warning, command and prohibition signs will be changed in relation to the ongoing work. From May 25 the following traffic organization will be in effect in the area:

  • Between km 171 and 176 km vehicle traffic will be shifted entirely to the southbound carriageway of the Motorway, where 4 lanes will be marked out. Two lanes for the direction to Warsaw and two lanes for the direction to Świecko (so to speak, “against the flow”), with a ban on trucks in the left lanes, both for Warsaw and Świecko direction. The emergency lane will not be available. A speed limit of 60 km/h will be in effect at the place the traffic organization changes.

  • Between km 176 and 179 of the A2 motorway traffic heading toward Świecko will be routed on the northbound carriageway, that is, there will be two lanes for each direction on both roads.

  • Between 179 and 180 kilometers, in the area of the Poznań Wschód interchange, on the southbound carriageway, two lanes will be designated for vehicles traveling in the direction to Warsaw (in the right lane drivers will still be able to exit the motorway onto the S5 expressway in the direction of Gniezno) and one lane will be designated for vehicles traveling from Warsaw in the direction to Świecko.

Upgrade works are still underway on the entry ramp lanes to the Poznań East interchange. The entry to the A2 from Bydgoszcz is closedhttps://www.autostrada-a2.pl/aktualnosci/remont-nawierzchni-na-wezle-poznan-wschod/

A speed limit of 80 km/h will be in effect along the entire section of the ongoing roadworks between km 171 and 180 of the A2, while a speed limit of 60 km/h will be binding in places where traffic is “flipped” between carriageways, the speed limit will be 60 km/h. Please drive carefully, pay attention to the signs, adjust your speed and maintain the distance between vehicles, according to the regulations.

Safety first – an appeal to drivers in connection with the ongoing road extension

We are making every effort to ensure that the ongoing extension runs smoothly, in a timely manner and with as little impact on the comfort of drivers as possible. We realize that the presence of the construction site may involve temporary difficulties, so we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We also appeal for special attention and caution in the area of the ongoing works. Not only machines, but above all people are working just behind the barriers separating traffic from the construction site. The construction site has been carefully designed and secured, and all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable standards and safety rules.

However, we should remember that safety is also determined by the attitude of drivers. Therefore, could you please: Notice. Slow down. Adjust your speed to the conditions, follow the signage and use extra caution. Together, we can ensure that road workers can perform their duties in safe conditions.
