On 25 June, drivers and passengers travelling on the concession section of the A2 motorway will be able to take advantage of free preventive health screenings, health consultations and tyre pressure checks. The joint initiative of Autostrada Eksploatacja and Autostrada Wielkopolska is being carried out as part of the international #S(H)heWorks #ICare campaign organised by European motorway operators and concessionaires.<\/h2>\n

Road safety depends not only on the technical condition of a vehicle, but also on the driver’s physical condition. Therefore, on 25 June,<\/strong><\/span> from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m<\/span><\/strong>., travellers stopping at the Rogoziniec Rest and Service Area (85 km A2, Warsaw-bound carriageway) and the Chociszewo Rest and Service Area (85 km A2, \u015awiecko-bound carriageway) will be able to take care of both their health and the safety of their vehicles.<\/p>\n

You Only Have One Life. Get Checked!<\/h4>\n

Autostrada Eksploatacja, the operator of the concession section of the A2 motorway, is organising the \u201cYou Only Have One Life. Get Checked!\u201d campaign, encouraging drivers to undergo regular preventive health screenings.<\/p>\n

As part of the event, drivers and passengers will be able to anonymously and free of charge check their blood pressure, blood glucose level and blood oxygen saturation. Emergency medical professionals will be available on-site to help participants interpret the results and advise on further diagnostic steps if necessary.<\/p>\n

It only takes 15 minutes to check basic health indicators such as blood pressure, blood sugar and oxygen saturation. We encourage professional drivers, as well as all other road users, to dedicate this short amount of time to their health – says Renata Rychlewska, spokesperson for Autostrada Eksploatacja.<\/p>\n

In addition to mesopic vision testing, drivers will be able to have their eyesight checked and screened for vision problems. Physiotherapists will demonstrate simple exercises that can help relieve the strain of long hours behind the wheel, advise on proper driving seat positioning, and teach participants basic self-massage techniques. Visitors will also be able to enjoy complimentary massages provided on-site by our specialists – says Tomasz Zagajewski from the Road Safety Centre, a partner of the initiative.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Previous editions of the campaign showed that drivers are eager to take part in health screenings when anonymity is ensured. Some participants, including foreign drivers working in Poland and Polish drivers working abroad, had limited access to regular healthcare. In several cases, the screenings revealed previously undiagnosed health issues.<\/p>\n

Being a professional driver is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary artery disease and hypertension. Drivers are also exposed to significant stress, fatigue and vision problems. We will teach them simple relaxation techniques and how to monitor their bodies for warning signs that should not be ignored – says Konrad Pierzchalski, paramedic and representative of the \u2018Pomog\u0119, bo mog\u0119\u2019 (\u2018I Help Because I Can\u2019) organisation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tyre Pressure Matters<\/h4>\n

At the same time, Autostrada Wielkopolska will run its \u201cTyre Pressure Matters\u201d campaign, during which drivers of passenger cars, vans and heavy goods vehicles will be able to have their tyre pressure checked free of charge and receive advice from mobile tyre service specialists.
\nExperts will not only measure and adjust tyre pressure but also explain how proper tyre inflation affects road safety, driving comfort, fuel consumption and tyre durability.<\/p>\n

For several years now, we have been reminding drivers how important correct tyre pressure is. It is one of the simplest vehicle maintenance checks, yet it directly affects safety, driving comfort, fuel consumption and tyre lifespan. Before setting off on summer journeys, it is worth taking a few minutes to perform this check – says Anna Ciamciak, spokesperson for Autostrada Wielkopolska.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Proper tyre pressure plays a vital role in safe and comfortable driving. Correctly inflated tyres provide better grip, improved vehicle stability and shorter braking distances, giving drivers greater control, especially during emergency manoeuvres or adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Regular tyre pressure checks also help reduce tyre wear and fuel consumption. Underinflated tyres increase rolling resistance, forcing the engine to work harder and consume more fuel. Incorrect tyre pressure also causes uneven tyre wear, reducing tyre life and increasing the risk of costly breakdowns.<\/p>\n

Every tyre pressure inspection should include the spare wheel. Even when not in use, a spare tyre gradually loses pressure, so it should be checked regularly before long journeys – says Maciej Kokot of Kokot-Trans Mobile Truck Service and Tyre Repair.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Maintaining the correct tyre pressure also benefits the environment. Lower fuel consumption results in lower carbon dioxide emissions, making tyre pressure checks one of the simplest actions drivers can take to travel more economically and sustainably.<\/p>\n

    A European Initiative for Road Safety and Health<\/h4>\n

    Both campaigns are part of the European #S(H)heWorks #ICare initiative, which aims to promote road safety and increase awareness among drivers. The campaign is supported by ASECAP, the European Association of Toll Road Infrastructure Operators.
    \nThis year’s Polish edition places particular emphasis on health and prevention, highlighting that taking care of one’s health is just as important for a safe journey as ensuring that a vehicle is in good technical condition.<\/p>\n
