The year 2025 on the concession section of the A2 motorway between \u015awiecko and Konin brought a number of changes that have tangibly improved road safety and travel comfort. It was a year of investments aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing safety, and supporting initiatives important to local communities.<\/h2>\n

As the operator of this section of the A2, we are committed to making the motorway safer, more convenient, and more driver friendly\u2014for both transit traffic and local residents. The past year confirmed the continued development of the concession section of the A2 as a modern motorway that connects people and places. Thanks to infrastructure investments, social initiatives, and care for the environment, it is becoming a space designed with users and neighbouring communities in mind.<\/p>\n

Faster, Smoother, More Convenient \u2013 Changes Visible on the Road<\/h4>\n

The largest investment was the construction of a third traffic lane in each direction<\/span><\/a> on a 10 kilometre stretch of the A2 between the Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny and Pozna\u0144 Wsch\u00f3d interchanges. Roadworks, originally planned to take 18 months, were completed three months ahead of schedule, allowing drivers to use the additional lanes already in the first weeks of the school year.<\/p>\n

Together with the section between Pozna\u0144 Zach\u00f3d and Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny, expanded at the end of 2019, the entire 26 kilometre stretch forming the southern bypass of Pozna\u0144 now has three lanes in each direction. Tens of thousands of drivers use this route every day. Expanding the busiest section of the A2 has resulted in smoother traffic flow, reduced stress, and greater travel comfort\u2014especially during peak hours.<\/p>\n

At the same time, we modernised the road surface at the Torzym<\/span><\/a>, Pozna\u0144 Wsch\u00f3d<\/span><\/a>, and Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144<\/span><\/a> interchanges, and built additional entry and exit lanes near the Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny and Pozna\u0144 Wsch\u00f3d interchanges. We also upgraded the surface of the roundabout<\/span><\/a> at the junction of national road DK92 and the A2 motorway slip road in Wrze\u015bnia.<\/p>\n

Another major improvement was the implementation of a modern toll collection system\u2014videotolling<\/span><\/a>\u2014on the section between Pozna\u0144 and Konin. Electronic licence plate recognition speeds up passage through toll plazas and reduces congestion, particularly during periods of increased traffic.<\/p>\n

Safety Comes First<\/h4>\n

During the expansion to a third lane, we paid special attention to safety infrastructure. Over 19 kilometres of crash barriers were installed, ditches and embankments were reinforced, and the drainage and stormwater systems were rebuilt. Additionally, 5,000 m\u00b2 of new or expanded noise barriers were constructed to improve protection against traffic noise.<\/p>\n

Road signage was supplemented with additional elements, including nearly 40 new \u201cSTOP \u2013 Wrong Way\u201d signs at all interchanges from \u015awiecko to Konin, aimed at preventing drivers from entering the motorway in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n

We ensure the highest standard of service for road users thanks to round the clock operation of patrols and maintenance services<\/span><\/a>\u201424 hours a day, 7 days a week.<\/p>\n

\nThese measures have delivered measurable results: in 2025, for the first time, no fatal accidents were recorded on the section between Nowy Tomy\u015bl and Konin<\/strong>.
\nWe also continued educational activities and the promotion of good driving habits\u2014both through dedicated programmes and ongoing communication with drivers.<\/p>\n

\"Autostrada
\nOur flagship initiative remains the \u201cMotorway Driving Course<\/span><\/a>\u201d, which allows young drivers to learn safe motorway and expressway driving even before taking their driving test. Since its launch in July 2021, more than 2,500 people have participated.
\nRegularly\u2014especially before long weekends and during periods of increased traffic\u2014we reminded drivers of the rules for safe travel on high speed roads.<\/p>\n

This consistent effort was recognised when Autostrada Wielkopolska received the Company of the Year 2025<\/span> <\/a>title in the Road Safety Partner competition.<\/p>\n

The Motorway and the Environment \u2013 Everyday Responsibility<\/h4>\n

The construction of the third lane was not only an infrastructure expansion, but also a commitment to responsible resource management. As part of the works, excavated materials were reused to build embankments, topsoil was reclaimed and spread over nearly 96,000 m\u00b2 of verges and slopes, and reclaimed asphalt was partially reused in road foundations, with the remainder transferred for further use.<\/p>\n

These actions reduce the consumption of natural resources and allow for efficient reuse of materials generated during construction.
\nThe concession section of the A2 runs through cities, forests, and agricultural areas, which is why we place strong emphasis on environmentally friendly practices and the sustainable development of road infrastructure.<\/p>\n

In 2025, we continued to expand the network of EV charging stations<\/span><\/a>\u2014including facilities for heavy goods vehicles\u2014and carried out numerous educational initiatives related to waste segregation<\/span><\/a>, noise emissions and their reduction<\/span><\/a>, and the impact of correct tyre pressure on fuel consumption<\/span><\/a> and carbon dioxide emissions.<\/p>\n

Close to People<\/h4>\n

The reliable day to day operation of the concession section of the A2 is ensured by the teams of Autostrada Eksploatacja S.A., entrusted with maintenance works<\/span><\/a>. Thanks to their professionalism, round the clock readiness, and experience, drivers can use the motorway safely and comfortably throughout the year. We also showcased their work \u201cbehind the scenes,\u201d reminding users that the efficient functioning of the motorway is made possible by dedicated people.<\/p>\n

\nAs a motorway concessionaire and operator, we also actively cooperated with public services<\/span><\/a>, institutions<\/span><\/a>, and educational organisations on social campaigns and preventive initiatives<\/span><\/a>, emphasising the importance of driver awareness and responsibility in reducing the number of road accidents.<\/p>\n
