The expansion project was carried out under traffic, with two lanes kept open in each direction throughout. This required intensive planning, significant resources, and close coordination between engineers, contractors, and motorway services.<\/p>\n

The project cost nearly PLN 150 million, funded entirely by the concessionaire.<\/p>\n
A Repeat Success<\/h4>\n
This is not the first time Autostrada Wielkopolska has delivered ahead of schedule. In December 2019, the expanded section between Pozna\u0144 Zach\u00f3d and Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny also opened months earlier than planned.
\nWith the latest upgrade, Pozna\u0144 now boasts one of Poland\u2019s few modern and toll-free motorway bypasses, offering residents and transit drivers improved safety and smoother traffic flow.<\/p>\nWhat the Upgrade Included<\/h4>\n
The expansion covered far more than just extra lanes:<\/p>\n
\n
- New entry and exit lanes near Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny and Pozna\u0144 Wsch\u00f3d<\/li>\n
- Modernization of interchanges at Pozna\u0144 East and Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144<\/li>\n
- Expansion of two motorway bridges<\/li>\n
- 5,000 m\u00b2 of new or upgraded noise barriers<\/li>\n
- More than 19 km of new safety barriers<\/li>\n
- Drainage and stormwater system upgrades<\/li>\n
- Strengthening of embankments and ditches<\/li>\n
- Relocation of utilities and power lines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
In total, 108,000 tons of asphalt mixtures were laid, including 280,000 m\u00b2 of Highly Modified Asphalt (HIMA), known for its durability and resistance to heavy traffic and changing weather.<\/p>\n
Focus on Sustainability<\/h4>\n
The project also prioritized environmental responsibility. Excavated materials were reused in embankments, topsoil was restored and reseeded over 96,000 m\u00b2, and recycled asphalt was incorporated into base layers. These measures reduced the need for new raw materials and aligned with the company\u2019s ESG strategy.<\/p>\n

A Key Transport Corridor<\/h4>\n
The work was carried out by Strabag Sp. z o.o., selected through a public tender.
\nThe A2 motorway remains one of Poland\u2019s most important transport routes, connecting east and west.
