On the night of 29 July in Vienna, Jan Kulczyk passed away at the age of 65, due to postoperative complications. He was the largest Polish entrepreneur investing in the key sectors in Poland and on the global scale.<\/p>\n

Owner of Kulczyk Investments, an international investment house to operate globally in over thirty countries on four continents.\n<\/p>\n

He played an active role in the transformation of the Polish economy. He participated in some of the largest privatization deals and shareholding restructurings as well as successfully completed major PPP projects.<\/p>\n

He has created Poland\u2018s largest automotive group importing and selling Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Bentley cars. During the past 20 years, the group sold over 1 million cars, which has made it an unquestionable leader of the Polish market.<\/p>\n

He had initiated the A2 project to build Poland\u2019s first private motorway that linked Poland with Europe. The PLN billion investment has made it the largest PPP venture.<\/p>\n

The largest Polish investor in Africa. Owner of a diversified asset portfolio comprising fuels and iron, copper and gold ores.<\/p>\n

Strategic partner and a shareholder of SAB Miller, a beer producer which operates on 75 markets. He has co-created Kompania Piwowarska, one of the most advanced brewing companies in the world and the largest in Poland.<\/p>\n

He was a co-founder of the Polish Business Roundtable and has been the Honorary Chairman of the German \u2013 Polish Chamber of Commerce as well as the Chairman of the Polish – Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. Since July 2006 had been a member of the Board of Directors of the Green Cross International and in October 2007 was appointed as Chairman of the Board.<\/p>\n

In 2010, he founded CEED Institute, a think \u2013 tank to promote the achievements of the new EU member states. In 2014, Jan Kulczyk created the Council of Investors in Africa. He was a member of the Atlantic Council International Advisory Board.<\/p>\n

Philanthropist, patron of culture and sport. He was decorated by the Polish President with the Polonia Restituta Order. He was also distinguished with the Golden Medal of Saint Paul Fathers for special contributions to the Jasna G\u00f3ra Monastery. He was also a holder of the prestigious Kisiel Award. In 2012, he was awarded the Patron of Culture title by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. As the first entrepreneur in the world, he was awarded the title of the Friend of Nigeria by the Nigerian government. As the strategic sponsor of the Polish olympic team, he supported initiatives that unite business, politics and sports societies to develop amateur and professional sport in Poland.<\/p>\n
