Motorway Rules applicable on A2 Toll Motorway section Świecko - Konin

maximum speed (passenger vehicles) - 140 km/h
maximum speed (trucks) - 80 km/h
minimum speed - 40 km/h
Drive in the right lane, and use the left lane for overtaking.
Do not stop your vehicle at any place in the motorway except Rest and Service Areas; you must also not drive back along the entire motorway section.
In emergency, stop the vehicle, if possible, in the hard shoulder, put the red warning triangle at a distance of 100 m from the vehicle, turn on the hazard lights and go to the nearest emergency (ERT) column.  The ERT columns are located every two kilometres. Press the red button to notify the Operator’s services of the emergency. The system will localize the notification and the relevant service shall arrive immediately. You can also notify of the emergency using your mobile phone at +48 61 83 83 112.
Do not drive back or turn back in the entire motorway (including the Toll Plazas that are an integral part of the motorway); if you want to change your driving direction, use only the motorway intersection.
Hitchhikers are not allowed to stop vehicles in the motorway or motorway intersections.
Do not drop passengers off in the motorway.
The motorway may only be used by vehicles and motorcycles. Single-track vehicles (bicycles and mopeds), tractors, carts pulled by horses and pedestrians are not allowed in the motorway.
When driving, leave a  40 - 50 m space from the preceding car
When changing lanes and overtaking indicator should be blinking for more than a flash and before the overtaking lane change should take place 50 meters from the vehicle overtaken

the most important information about the section Świecko - Nowy Tomyśl (106 km)

  • A2 motorway has been commenced six months before the date set in the agreement with government
  • Until May 2012, the use of motorway is untollable
  • The motorway fulfills the highest standards of motorway and road construction in the countries of European Union
  • Realized in the newest concrete technology guarantees the highest comfort of travelling

Motorway interchanges (entrances/exits)
On the 106-kilometre-long section of motorway, there are 6 interchanges:

  • Nowy Tomyśl - 108 km east of Świecko, crossroads with provincial road no. 305. Interchange infrastructure is adjusted to passenger vehicle as well as heavy vehicle traffic
  • Trzciel - 91 km east of Świecko, crossroads with district road F1339. Roads that connect with the motorway can be used by passenger vehicles. They are not adjust to the heavy vehicle traffic, that is for the vehicle with bearing capacity of 115 kN per axis.
  • Jordanowo - 69 km east of Świecko - the interchange is completely finished, however it is out of use beacause of lack of connection with express road no. S3. GDDKiA plans to finish the construction of S3 section to Jordanowo in the second half of 2013.
  • Torzym - 35 km east of Świecko, crossroads with provincial road no. 138. Roads connected with the interchange are not adjust to the heavy vehicle traffic, that is for the vehicle with bearing capacity of 115 kN per axis.
  • Rzepin - 21 km east of Świecko, crossroads with state road no. 2 and provincial road F 1254. Roads connected with the motorway are adjust to the heavy vehicle traffic.
  • Świecko - 3 km east of Świecko, crossroads with state road no. 29. Roads connected with the interchange are adjust to passenger vehicle and heavy vehicle traffic

Rest areas (parking lots)
On the 106-kilometre-long section of A2, there are already 6 rest areas (10 are planned). There are placed in Rogoziniec, Chociszewo, Koryta, Walewice, Sosina and Gliniec.
All rest areas are equipped with parking lots and toilets. In future, some of these places will also be expanded by restaurants, night accommodations and petrol stations.

Petrol stations
Until March 2012 on the new 106-kilometre-long section, there are NO PETROL STATIONS
The time of the final commencement of fully equipped motorway is May 2012. Autostrada Wielkopolska, just after finishing construction works, decided to make the motorway available for use six months before the date set in the agreement with goverment and untollable until 21st May 2012.
Petrol stations will operate 2 years before the time agreed upon with the government, that is in March 2012.

At present (until March 2012):

  1. On the way to Berlin: Rest Area Sędzinko (134 km east of Świecko) and in Świecko, just before the border with Germany.
  2. On the way to Poznań: Rest Area Zalesie (134 km east of Świecko).
  3. Just before the border with Germany - only for drivers going to Berlin.
  4. Other petrol stations, on the both sided of A2 are placed on the German side, 15 km west of Świecko.

Planned (from March 2012)

  1. On the way to Berlin: Rest Area Chociszewo (85 km from Świecko) and Rest Area Gliniec (5 km from Świecko).
  2. On the way to Poznań: Rest Area Rogoziniec (85 km from Świecko) and Rest Area Sosna (5 km from Świecko).

Safety on A2:
In the case of emergency, there are so-called SOS posts at the distance of 2 kilometres on 106-kilometre-long section. To call for help, one needs to push the red button and wait for response from the worker of maintenance centre. Emergency number +48 61 838 31 12
